Tinkerbell Invitations

Well my daughter's 5th birthday is coming up and she wanted a Tinkerbell theme this year. I always make the invitations for both my kids parties. I just like the fact that I can make it specific and put the information I want on there and not have blank spots that I don't need to fill out. Like this year I don't need to put our address down because it is mainly all neighbor kids she is inviting. So I got some Tinkerbell paper by EK Success, some cardstock that matched and some purple rick rack velvet ribbon that I already had in my stash. I then found a package of gel stickers (SandyLion) that had enough stickers to make the number of invitations that I needed. Now I knew that I did not need them to all match but they did need to be of a certain size. Once I was done this is what I came out with. It was fast and easy. Then printed the info I needed on white cardstock and glued to the inside and off into envelopes for delivering.

Redoing a Dresser

Well I am hoping this piece of furniture is a dresser. :-) Otherwise I have given it a wrong name. Anyways, we were given this when we moved into our house from a family member b/c we knew we would need some more dressers in this bigger house. Well this got put in the guest bedroom closet but I didn't really enjoy it there. Plus it was a dark wood color (can see in the before draw picture) that just did not match any of the rest of the house. Finally I came up with an idea on how to use it. My craft/office room is shared with the kids drawing stuff and I was tired of the mess. So decided that could paint this white and use my silhouette to make vinyl lettering to give everyone a drawer. It turned out great and it has been working wonderfully!!!

The done product!

Magic Boxes - Teacher Gifts

So for this year I decided to make these "magic boxes" for teacher gifts. They are so easy to make...especially when you have tons of paper like I do. :-) The first one I made was for ds's teacher for teacher appreciation week. The last 6 I made were for my kids Sunday School teachers. I still have to make 2 more for dd's teachers this week as a thank you for the whole year.

As you can see in the picture I put something in each box. One box held a little card like the one shown below. Then one box I have a picture that was hand drawn by my kids. Then one box held Hershey's Kisses ("Kisses") and the other box held Hershey's Hugs ("Hugs"). So far the teachers have loved them...who wouldn't love to get chocolate and a thank you for being so special! :-)

The last picture is of all the Sunday School boxes. Sorry it was a last minute picture before I forgot to take it...so you see our washing machine. :-)

Blog Candy Link

Okay a friend posted this link and I went and looked...I couldn't pass it up. I would love to have some copics to try out. :-)

Magent Board with Corkboard

Okay I made this a couple months ago and just realized it never posted...it was sitting in draft. So here it is for you to enjoy!

I made this for my mother-in-law for a Christmas present and now I finally made one for me. You can easily make it any size you want. I bought cork board from walmart (in the office supply section) and then underneath the paper are pieces of flashing (galvanized only) that I glued onto a backing. I find it cheaper and easier to buy it in the small flashing pieces so that I can cut and use any size I need. It runs about $0.50 a sheet...so cheap! The bigger one is from a cheap frame bought at Walmart and painted the color I needed. I also just painted the cork board the color to match what ever paper I choose for the project. So go make one with any frame that you have in your house and have fun!

Spring/Summer Card

I made this card for a swap I was in for a spring/summer/or just warm card. I have to admit that I can't wait for spring! I am loving the sun we have had the last couple of days. I used a Bella stamp and then colored it was my watercolor pencils.

Chipboard Alphabet Organization

Well I had some of my chipboard alphabet in a box with file like chipboard in there to seperate the letters. I didn't like it at all. So decided to look and see what I could come up with. I came up with this after searching. I looked at tool holders and such but they were too expensive and the drawers not big enough for me. So finally found these at Lowe's on sale. I bought all they had. I really want to find one more so it looks even and use the extra drawers for other embellishments. I do still have some of my bigger chipboard sets in their containers (especially Basic Grey ones) in a crate so I can just grab that for when I want all the same.

Ribbon Organization/Storage

Okay for the longest time I have not had my ribbon like I wanted. I always felt like I forgot what I had. I have tried a couple different ways of organizing but I finally found one that I love! I got the idea from the Clip it up Ribbon Organizer but I don't have rolls of ribbon so that would have been a waste for me. I mainly buy ribbon by the yard. So I went looking for a rod to hang on my wall. Now I knew that I wanted it to be silver b/c the clips from Clip It Up are silver and I like everything to match. Well the closest thing I could find was a 7/16" rod from Lowe's. It is a little wider then I would have liked. I would have liked a 5/16". The reason I would have liked a smaller one is b/c the clips would fit on it better. On the 7/16" one I had to widen the clips so they would fit on. The ribbon is "tied" onto rings that I got at the office store. They are the 1.5" rings. Now it is all done and looks great and I can see what I have at a glance!

Shimmer Card

I made this card for a swap I am in at my work. I got the original idea from Archiver's new watercolor class. I love this stamps set with the animals. It is so cute and can do many different things with it. The stamp for the bird is from a Hero Arts stamp set called Sending Happy Thoughts. The swirls on the background are from the Autumn Leaves Swirls stamp set.

Baby Burp Cloths - Easy to make!

These are my favorite things to make for new moms. I had these as a new mom and loved them. You just buy cloth diapers and then sew whatever ribbon you want on the end of them. This way the mom knows they are her's but also they are not so blah.

12 Month Baby Book

Our old neighbor was having a baby shower this last week. All I have to say is that this baby is a very special baby and had many prayers from around the world to help him get better before he was born. He is a miracle and I am sure he will be full of life for his mommy!

I thought I would post pictures of the album. This was all done from scratch. I had the page protectors and I just used my zutter to put it all together. The papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Jack's World Kit. It was perfect. Sorry the pictures have some lines going through them. Something was up with my camera that night. Plus I did not put all 12 months on here. I have them on my slide though.

Craziness

I have finally come to realize that I just can not work on projects in a totally clean area. :-) My dh made the comment the other day that he can't believe I can work on my desk and like it. Now you have to remember that he is a computer guy so most of everything he does is on the computer. You should see his desk (maybe sometime I will have to take a picture of it) there is nothing out of place or even on his desk that should not be there. Let's just say there isn't much on his desk. Now my desk as you can see from the picture is almost always like this. Now the funny thing is that I know where everything is too...well I say that but for some reason I can not find my favorite pencil. I am guessing that one of the kids put it somewhere. My point is that I know for awhile after we moved I kept thinking to myself that I wanted a room that was totally organized and looked great when you walked in to the room. Now I have to admit to myself that most stuff will be in it's place but there will be craziness on my desk when I am working on projects!

I was just counting and if I counted correctly I have 5 different projects there right now. One is all the way done and just needs to be mailed off, one has not been started and all the others are about half way through but by tomorrow night all except for one should be done.

Shimmer!

Tonight I am going to post pictures of projects that I used shimmer on. It was fun to do some different things.

LOVE!
This project was done with a heart grungeboard. I mixed the Shimmerz with red ink and painted the heart. Then I took rub ons that I had laying around to decorate it. Now it is ready to use on a layout.

Tinkerbell Layout

I did this layout using a picture of the kids from Disney World. I am not sure if you can see it in the picture but in their hands is Tinkerbell. The kids love this picture! Sorry to say the paper piecing of tinkerbell is not one that I did. I have saved it from a swap I did over a year ago. Now it works perfectly on this layout. I added some Shimmerz to the ribbon edges, on top of the words, and also on the grunge board flourish.

Christmas Card
This is a sample of the Christmas card. As you can see I used lots of shimmer on the angel. Just made the angel stand out more.
Dance Layout

All the lettering in this layout has black glitter on it! My daughter loves this layout just because it is about her dancing and also because it has glitter on it. Don't all little girls love anything that sparkles!?

Angel Cards

I made a bunch of cards for my aunt who loves handmade cards. Now the angle in these were bought with the glitter and everything on them. The only "extra" glitter that I added was on the paper ribbon. I first inked the paper ribbon then added Shimmerz on top of it. It's subtle but works wonderful with the glitter already on the angels.

Organizing - Scrap Paper

Well I have finally come up with something that has only my scrap paper in it. Now this is for my colors not my patterns. I keep my patterns in with my 8.5x11 paper file drawer. I just wanted to pull out all my little pieces of paper since I always seem to skip them and use a big sheet of paper...especially when making cards. This way I know what I have at first glance. You can see the before and after picture. Before I had them in a accordion style folder and it just wasn't working b/c it ended up not being nice and neat. Now I have them in a file folder box that I got at Walmart for around $6. The files I already had on hand. Now I can just reach below my desk and pull out the box for what I want.

Also, I know that some links and such are not working on this blog. I am trying to work on it. I am thinking it is a blogger thing b/c on both of my blogs I can not add gadgets (no option). One of these days it will be put together correctly. :-)

Disney World!

Well I hope everyone has had a good Wednesday! Mine is always busy from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. I get about 30 minutes on the computer for today. Tomorrow will be a better day b/c I get to be home all day.

Anyways, the newest scrapbook album that I am going to start working on is a Disney World one. We went to Disney World in December before Christmas with my family and had a blast. Wish we would have had more time but we will know that for the next time. :-) I thought I would leave you with a happy picture.

PS I promise to have links up and "extras" on this blog tomorrow!

Welcome!

Hi! If you have found this site I welcome you! I have always wanted to have a blog where I only have my craft stuff. It took me awhile to figure out what I wanted and I am sure I will end up changing some things around too. But that is what crafting is all about. How you feel at the time and just playing around.

I started stamping back in the late 1990's and have loved it since. I use to do very elaborate cards with stamps but since I have kids they have gotten simpler. I still love playing with stamps!

I started scrapbooking (with one of those buy it all kits from Michael's) back in 1998. I was working as a nanny for a family and we decided to do a scrapbook for the mom. I am glad that the book is not sitting around here b/c I would get the urge to go back and change things. :-) I seriously started scrapbooking when my first was born in 2002. Now I am not a person that scraps her pictures in order. I am scrap what I feel like. But I seriously do need to actually got back and finish some sections of my kids albums! Just so I can say that part is done.

Most times I will post a picture of what I am working on. There will be posts of just wandering thoughts or of organizing ideas. I am in the process of organizing my stuff since I got a new/bigger desk for Christmas. My dh thinks it's crazy....he likes a clean nothing on the desk (will have to show a picture sometime) but for me a crafting desk is not going to be clean and neat all the time. Plus I need to have alot of my stuff at hands reach so I don't have to get up and get it!

Have a wonderful day! Come back and visit!
